Your Domain Name Contains a Protected Word or Inappropriate Language – Not Really, But Too Bad For You

The Microsoft Forums are overflowing with people trying to use Windows Live Custom Domains service but are getting the “This domain name can’t be used because it contains a protected word or inappropriate language. Please contact support if you feel this is not the case.” Sadly, almost every case was dragged out for months with little or no response from the support agent. And in every case, the domain was perfectly fine – there are no inappropriate language or protected words.

Now, I have to setup hosted email for a customer by the end of the week. It’s a small 2 person deal and I’m getting this error. I’m not willing to drag this out for months as Microsoft’s support drags their feet. It can’t take more than 5 minutes to validate a domain and clear it, and I’m certain that their volume isn’t such that it takes months to resolve this.

That leaves me with Google Apps, but then I can’t setup push email. So that’s no good either. Anyone have another service they can recommend?
