Tablet Porn - Unboxing My New Lappy

WooHoo! It's finally here. After a short delay as the package was being hauled all around the city by the courier, it finally arrived late on Friday.  The timeing couldn't be any better as I fly out to Seattle on Sunday afternoon and I didn't want to bring my old ThinkPad along for the trip.

This new Fujitsu Tablet is super small and light. When I first picked it up, I had to double check that the battery was actually in the machine - And it was! I've had a heck of a time installing one of the included screen protectors.  I've installed many on my phones over the years, but never on a surface so large.  It's a pretty difficult task. I haven't done much else on the machine yet. But I did manage to collect some unboxing porn for everyone to enjoy. Please try not to drool on your keyboard. Wink

Micael it's a port replicator and Fujitsu are bundling them with this lifebook at the moment. Hey Mike, does the Aero Glass fature work well on this? (I'm about to purchase one... :-) )

Looks pretty good. The question now is "will it make you work any faster?" :) ;)

@ Nick - I haven't changed any of the default settings. So Windows Vista decides what my laptop can or can't handle. By default, the Aero Glass is not turned on.  I'm guessing that means that the machine can't handle it? Tongue Tied The Windows Experience Index is listed as 3.1 - in case you're interested.

@ MrGTI - Chances are good that the answer is "No". Wink

Regarding Aero - It turns out that Fujitsu shipped the machine with the default theme/appearance set to Windows Vista Basic. I just changed it to Windows Aero and I'm enjoying the cool new Aero look.  Runs like a champ too! Big Smile

Awesome! You'll really enjoy it.  My biggest beef with this laptop is how the designed the keyboard.  Overall the feel is great.  I just don't like that I have to press the Function key to use the Home and End keys.  Those are some of the most used keys by me.  And now it's a two-step process. Sad

Otherwise, nothing to complain about!

I cant wait, it will be here on Monday. Was it really hard to put the screen protector on? Have you found a good case for it yet? The home and end keys aren't too much of a problem for me

Yeah, the screen protector was a huge pain. I screwed the first one up.  I then had my wife help with the second one. It's still not 100%, but it's pretty close.

Since my old laptop was much larger, I've been using the same case.  It slides in nicely and then the whole thing fits into my backpack.  And since it's so light, I can almost forget there's a computer in there!

Hi Mike, i got mine today and haven't stopped using it. I did have some trouble upgrading from Business to my MSDN Ultimate and ended up reformatting the laptop and installing all the drivers by hand, but other than that it is fantastic! Thanks for the tip!!!

Awesome! Glad that you like it as much as I do.

I didn't upgrade anything with Vista. I wanted it pre-installed and I don't mind that it's just Business - as that's what the device is for.  I don't need MCE on this machine.  I'm always worried about wiping clean a new machine and then having problems locating drivers or something. Smile
